Sunday
nights — or by booking.

The Beverly-Begg Observatory sits above the city in Robin Hood Park. We open every Sunday from the end of Daylight Savings in April through to its return in September. Outside those hours we open the dome by arrangement — for groups, schools, scout packs, or anyone who'd like a private night under the stars. Clear skies or cloudy, there's always something to learn.

What to expect

An evening at the observatory.

  1. 01
    Arrive a few minutes early
Park along the road. Walk up the path. We'll meet you at the dome — 7:30 PM on Sundays, or whenever your booking starts.
  2. 02
    A short orientation
Members give a quick tour of the building and the night's targets.
  3. 03
    Through the eyepiece
We point the main 18-inch and several smaller scopes at planets, clusters, nebulae — whatever's visible.
  4. 04
    Cloudy? Doesn't matter
We open regardless. You'll get a tour of the historic dome and a talk on what we'd be seeing.
